Sonar Fort located in Jaisalmer is considered to be one of Rajasthan's best known
Dhyan fort. The fort of Jaisalmer was constructed in 1156 and it is the second
oldest state in Rajasthan. This fort with a wall of 30 feet high, constructed
by two and a half feet high and a large section of St. Stone, has 99 ramparts,
of which 92 were constructed between 1633 and 1647. The wells inside this fort
provide a continuous source of water. This fort built by Raval Jaisal, which is
located on the Tripura Hill, 80 meters high, has an outer wall of palaces,
house, and the temple made of soft yellow st. Stone. Its narrow streets and four
huge entrances, the last of which leads to the main square, on which the old
palace of Maharaj is situated. Almost one-fourth of the town's population lives
inside this fort. It can be reached by Ganesh Pol, Suraj Pol, Bhoot Poll and
Air Poll. Here are groups of beautiful Haveli and Jain temples which were built
between the 12th and 15th centuries.
Jaisalmer

consider themselves a descendant of Lord Krishna probably came to the land of
Jaisalmer in the sixth century. In this district, the descendants of the
Yadavas lived in the first capital of the Bhati Rajputs, Tanot, the second in
Ladhva and the third Jaisalmer.
